70s return; a shot at 80 degrees Friday

Mild bias likely to continue through most of October.

They’re back!

Temperatures in the 70s returned to southern and western Minnesota Monday afternoon. Cooler air lingers in northern Minnesota where temperatures hovered in the 50s and 60s Monday.

Highs in the 70s return Tuesday for southern Minnesota. We cool off a bit Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the 50s north and 60s south.

The upper air pattern over Minnesota favors very mild air late week. The jet stream lifts north into Canada once again.

Mild bias through October?

We’ll see some cold fronts this month. But the overall temperature pattern favors a mild bias. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s 6- to 10-day temperature outlook favors a warm bias across most of the U.S. through Oct. 15.
