Gradual warming trend arrives: Mild start to November ahead

Highs reach the 50s, and possibly 60s next week

Minnesota’s October temperature roller coaster hit bottom Tuesday morning. Now we begin chugging up that slow rise toward the top of the temperature hill next week.

Frigid morning temperatures in the single digits and teens covered the Upper Midwest Tuesday morning. The readings challenged minimum temperature records in many locations.

The upper air flow across North America changes in the next week. As the jet stream lifts into Canada, milder temperatures take hold across most of the U.S. through next week.

Highs Wednesday afternoon return to the 40s across southern Minnesota with some 30s up north.

Temperatures Saturday make the low 50s across southern Minnesota with mostly 40s up north.

The jet stream lifts even further into Canada next week.

That will allow milder air to take hold. Highs in the 50s, and possibly even 60s are looking more likely by election day into the middle of next week.
