The Thanksgiving holiday weekend has arrived. This looks like one of the milder Thanksgiving weekends overall.
Thanksgiving Day should bring enough wind to finally scour out the low gray stratus cloud deck across Minnesota. You can see the blanket of gray beginning to erode in the eastern Dakotas on NOAA’s GOES-16 satellite loop Wednesday afternoon.
November always begs the question if we will get the anticipated sun Thursday. But if skies clear as expected, temperatures should have no trouble reaching the low to mid-40s across southern Minnesota Thanksgiving Day afternoon, with 30s up north.
50s Saturday?
We hit a minor speed bump Friday with highs in the low 40s south and 30s north. But southerly winds return Saturday as even milder air pushes north. Again, if we get abundant sunhine as forecast, highs should reach the low 50s Saturday afternoon from the Twin Cities southward, with 40s across most of northern Minnesota.
Sunday brings a sharp cold front. Expect gusty northwest winds and falling temperatures into the 20s and 30s across Minnesota.
Right now I still don’t see any big snow events on the horizon just yet.
