Dense freezing fog at night, wintry mix southwest

No big snow events in sight just yet

Heads up southwest Minnesota. A light wintry mix may create some slick roads overnight into Wednesday.

A weak low-pressure system will clip southwest Minnesota overnight. The low will generate a light wintry mix of ice and snow. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s NAM 3 km resolution model paints bands of mixed precipitation into southwest Minnesota overnight.

Overall snowfall accumulations look light. Most locations will pick up a dusting to less than 2 inches of snow. Mixed ice may produce slick road conditions.

More freezing fog

Have you noticed the ice build-up on trees in the mornings lately. That’s the result of freezing fog late at night that deposits ice on surfaces.
