Edge of arctic air mass: Subzero wind chills continue

It’s been a mild winter overall so far. But it’s respectably cold this week across the Upper Midwest.

Wind chill readings hover well below zero across the Red River Valley Tuesday afternoon.

Wind chill advisories remain in effect for northwest Minnesota and much of North Dakota through noon Wednesday.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Minnesota and northeast North Dakota.

* WHEN...Until noon CST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

Twin Cities: Flirting with zero

Temperatures will bottom out around the zero-mark both Wednesday and Thursday mornings in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.

So far the Twin Cities has logged just two days at or below zero so far this winter. The annual average is 23 days.
