Spring has sprung on the weather maps.

The warmest air mass of the season is on the way next week. Highs will push the 70-degree mark for the first time since Nov. 8, 2020, in parts of southern Minnesota.

Split weekend

Friday brings more sun and highs in the 50s in southern Minnesota with 40s up north. Lake Superior communities will run cooler with a lake breeze and temperatures in the 30s.

A weak low-pressure system glides through Minnesota with rain showers south and snow showers north. The Canadian model tracks the system across Minnesota Saturday.

Sunday brings the nicer, sunnier day of the weekend. Highs reach the 50s south and 40s north once again.

Mild Monday

Milder southwest breezes blow in Monday. Winds will gust to over 30 mph at times, but temperatures should make the low 70s in southwest Minnesota. The Twin Cities may get close to 70 degrees Monday afternoon.

We cool down back into the 40s and 50s next Tuesday through Thursday. But 60s, and possibly 70s appear increasingly likely again by next Friday and Saturday, April 2 and 3.
