A frost advisory is in effect for most of southern Minnesota until 8 a.m. Thursday. The advisory zone includes many Twin Cities suburbs. The advisory does not include Hennepin and Ramsey counties.

...FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 8 AM CDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Temperatures as low as 32 will result in frost formation.

* WHERE...Portions of west central Wisconsin and central, east central, south central, southeast, southwest and west central Minnesota.

* WHEN...From 3 AM to 8 AM CDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.

Most of the inner Twin Cities core inside the 494/694 loop should escape frost Thursday morning. Temperatures are likely to bottom out in the mid- to upper 30s in most of the inner Twin Cities. But lows in the low to mid-30s are likely across most of southern Minnesota.

Sunshine returns

The sun is coming back to Minnesota Thursday and Friday. Highs will be near 60 degrees through this weekend in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. Highs in the 50s will be common across most of northern Minnesota.
