Rain and thunder give way to sunshine Tuesday

Soaking rain in parts of Minnesota Monday night. Summerlike temperatures return by next weekend.

Scattered rain and thunder delivered another soaking rainfall to parts of central and southern Minnesota. So far the weak to moderate low-pressure system has behaved with minimal severe weather. There’s still a low risk of severe weather. Keep an eye on the MPR severe weather live blog for up-to-the-minute updates.

Rainfall totals are expected to be between 0.5 and 1 inch or more in most areas by early Tuesday morning. Locally heavier rainfall pockets over an inch are likely.
