Temperature roller coaster. No big snow in sight. So far.

That’s the short of our weather forecast through Thanksgiving week across Minnesota if today’s forecast models hold.

But there’s always a November caveat this time of year.

Weather systems move so rapidly now. There’s a constant risk of snow systems popping up on the forecast maps with the next forecast model run. With that forecast limitation in mind, the weather maps so far are behaving through most of Thanksgiving week over Minnesota.

Wind chill factor

It’s been a while since we’ve had significant wind chills across Minnesota. You can feel it in the air today across Minnesota. This cold front means business. Wind chills are in the teens across northwest Minnesota. And single digits are not far behind in North Dakota.

Wind chills will bottom out in the single digits above zero early Thursday morning across northern Minnesota and North Dakota. It will feel like the teens in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.

Thursday’s highs will hover in the 20s north and 30s south.

Friday and Saturday bring slightly milder temperatures to Minnesota. Saturday will be the milder day this weekend. Not warm, but not frigid.

A cold front brings a chance of light snow to the northern half of Minnesota Sunday. Flurries look possible in the south.

Even colder by Monday

An even colder air mass sweeps into Minnesota Sunday and Monday. Monday morning looks like the coldest so far this season. Lows could approach zero in the north Monday morning.

Milder temperatures blow back in Tuesday, and then it looks colder again as we head toward Thanksgiving.

Right now the maps don’t suggest any big storms for Minnesota next week. But it’s November.
