Hennepin County prosecutors allege a 19-year-old man was trying to shoot at three people on a north Minneapolis porch last May when he killed 9-year-old Trinity Ottoson-Smith, who was caught in the middle of the gunfire while she played on a trampoline outside the house.

Dpree Robinson has been charged with one count of intentional second-degree murder in her killing.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said Thursday that search warrants on Robinson’s social media accounts showed that he described himself as an “active shooter” for a local street gang.

He’s expected to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.

“The sadness that comes with this arrest and charge is the reminder that an innocent nine-year-old child was shot and killed last year while playing on her trampoline,” Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman said in a statement. “I cannot express enough sympathy to her family and loved ones.”

Trinity was the second child to die from a gunshot wound in the city in as many weeks last spring.

Six-year-old Aniya Allen had been riding in her mother’s car on May 17 when they were suddenly caught in an exchange of gunfire near 36th and Penn avenues North. She later died at a hospital.

Another child, Ladavionne Garrett Jr., was severely wounded after being shot in the head on April 30 as he was riding in a car with his parents. He was 10 years old at the time.
