Weekend weather: warmer temps return; Sunday rain chance favors the north

Northwesterly winds spread comfortably dry air across Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Wednesday. Comfortable dew points will stay with us Thursday and much of Friday, then southerly winds will bring us higher dew points on Saturday and Sunday.

Weekend temps and winds

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 83 degrees this time of year. Metro area highs are likely to reach the upper 80s this Saturday. Much of Minnesota will see highs in the upper 80s, with cooler temps in the northeast:

Saturday afternoon dew points will feel summery, with upper 50s in much of central and southern Minnesota as well as west-central Wisconsin:

Parts of southwestern Minnesota will see dew points rise into the lower 60s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday high temps reach the upper 80s to around 90 in central and southern Minnesota, with some lower 80s in the far north:

Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the sticky 60s in most areas:

Rain chances?

Saturday looks rain-free in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, then some areas could see a bit of rain Sunday afternoon or evening. One forecast model shows scattered showers and thunderstorms moving into northern Minnesota and parts of central Minnesota Sunday afternoon, with the rain chance spreading into the Twin Cities, southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday evening.
