Forecast models continue to show periods of showers and thunderstorms this weekend across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The northern third of Minnesota is expected to see the lowest rainfall totals, while parts of central and southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin could see 1 inch or more of weekend rain.

Drought update
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report shows severe drought across much of the Twin Cities metro area and also in Sibley County and southeastern McLeod County:

4.02 percent of Minnesota is currently in severe drought. Last year at this time, 78.6 percent of Minnesota was in severe or worse drought conditions. The beige area on the map is moderate drought, and the area that’s shaded yellow is abnormally dry by not yet in drought.
According to the U.S. Drought Monitor website:
The Drought Monitor has been a team effort since its inception in 1999, produced jointly by the National Drought Mitigation Center (NDMC) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
The drought report is posted each Thursday, and includes rainfall data through 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Weekend temps and dew points
Saturday highs will range from the 70s in northern Minnesota to the upper 80s in the southeast:
Saturday afternoon dew points will be in the comfortable 50s in the far north, with sticky 60s in central Minnesota and steamy 70s in the south:
Sunday highs will be in the 70s in most areas, with some 60s near Lake Superior:
