Periods of rain and thunderstorms are expected Saturday and Saturday night in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are also possible on Sunday.
The highest weekend rainfall totals, 1 to 2 inches, are expected from the southern half of Minnesota eastward into Wisconsin. Localized higher amounts are possible. Northwestern Minnesota will see very little rain this weekend.
Widespread severe weather is not expected Saturday or Saturday night.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk of severe weather Saturday and Saturday night in roughly the southern third of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area, plus parts of Wisconsin and northern Iowa:

Temps and dew points
Saturday highs will be in the 80s in the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota, with mainly 70s elsewhere in Minnesota:
Parts of northwestern Minnesota will have highs in the 60s and west-central and southwestern Wisconsin will top 90.
Saturday afternoon dew points will be in the steamy 70s from the Twin Cities into southeastern Minnesota, with sticky 60s in central Minnesota:
Rain needed
The timing of the weekend rain is unfortunate for people who have outdoor plans, but many areas could really use some rain.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor report shows severe drought across much of the Twin Cities metro area and also in Sibley County and southeastern McLeod County:
The beige area on the map is in moderate drought, and the area that’s shaded yellow is abnormally dry but not currently in drought.
