Quiet weekend weather in most areas; near-normal temps
Warmer weather could return next weekend and beyond
The weekend is upon us, and you might be wondering if you’ll see any rain. Lets break it down.
Friday evening and overnight
Occasional scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm will be possible this Friday evening in the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota. The chance of scattered showers/isolated t-storm continues Friday evening and overnight Friday night in portions of northern and central Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin.

Quiet weather in many areas Saturday and Sunday
Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have dry weather from Saturday morning through most of Sunday. A few scattered scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible in northeastern Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening.
Temperature trends
Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 81 degrees on August 13. We’re looking at metro area highs in the lower 80s Saturday afternoon. We’ll share lower 80s with much of southern Minnesota, with mainly 70s elsewhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
Saturday afternoon dew points will be in the sticky 60s in central and southern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin:
Sunday high temperatures will be in the 70s in many areas, with the Twin Cities and parts of southern and far western Minnesota touching 80:
Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the 60s in western, central and southern Minnesota:
Back to forecast highs, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 80s this coming week. We’ll have a chance of an afternoon/evening shower or thunderstorm Tuesday and Wednesday.
Looking ahead a bit, we may see somewhat warmer temps next weekend and into the beginning of the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in much of the upper Midwest from August 20 through August 26:
