Weekend weather: Some clouds linger into Saturday; brighter on Sunday

Shower chance in some areas on Saturday

A low pressure system is spinning areas of showers and thunderstorms across portions of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Friday. That low will slide off to the southeast as we go through Friday night.

Saturday rain chances?

On Saturday, the low pressure system will still be close enough to give roughly the southeastern half of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin a chance of scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm. The spots that do see some rain on Saturday will see many more dry minutes than wet minutes.

Severe weather isn’t expected in Minnesota or western Wisconsin on Saturday. The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows general (non-severe) thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night in Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 80 degrees on Aug. 20. We're looking at metro area highs in the mid 70s this Saturday. We’ll share 70s with most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

There’ll probably be some 60s near Lake Superior.

Saturday afternoon dew points will be in the sticky 60s in many areas:

I wouldn’t be surprised to see a few spots in the Twin Cities metro area and southern Minnesota touch 80 degrees Sunday afternoon.

Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the 60s in southern and central Minnesota, with drier 50s to the north:
