Heavy rainfall is in the air for parts of northeast Minnesota through Friday.
Our slow-moving soggy weather system is focusing the heaviest rainfall zone across northeast Minnesota. More spotty coverage brings a chance of occasional rain and thunder to the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota through this weekend.
A flood watch continues through Friday for much of Lake and Cook counties in northeast Minnesota.
Including the cities of Silver Bay, Isabella, Two Harbors, and Grand Marais

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.
* WHERE...A portion of northeast Minnesota, including the following areas, Northern Cook and Lake, Southern Cook and Southern Lake.
* WHEN...From this evening through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A few rounds of showers and storms are expected to move through the region today into the weekend. Heavier rainfall will be most likely tonight into Friday evening and may result in flooding.
Rainfall totals between one and four inches are possible in the rain zone up north.
For the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota, rain and thunder coverage will be more spotty through the weekend.
NOAA’s NAM 3 km model gives you the notion of widely scattered cells in southern Minnesota into the weekend. Heavier rain cells focus on northern Minnesota and southern Canada. The loop below runs until 1 a.m. Sunday.

Temperatures through this weekend will feel more summer than September across most of Minnesota. Highs will be near 80 degrees in the south, with 70s central and north.
