Rain chance in northeastern Minnesota

Most of Minnesota will have plenty of Sunday sunshine, but much of north-central and northeastern Minnesota and portions of western Wisconsin will have lingering clouds and a chance of scattered showers and an isolated afternoon/evening t-storm.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model shows the potential rain pattern from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday:

There’s a big pressure difference between a high pressure system over the Rockies and a low pressure system over the eastern Great Lakes, so we’ll have strong northwesterly winds today. Wind gusts of 30-40 mph will be common across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin by Sunday afternoon.

Highs in the 60s are expected across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon. Portions of northeastern Minnesota will have highs in the 50s:
