Yes, this is chilly. The Saturday high of 29 degrees at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is our average Twin Cities high on Dec. 14. It was 15 degrees cooler than our average Nov. 12 high in the metro. Chilly weather will continue tomorrow and through the coming week.
Temperature trends
Sunday highs will be in the 20s across much of Minnesota, with some lower 30s in the metro area and to the southeast and east:
Winds will be fairly light on Sunday, so that will be an improvement.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be in the lower 30s Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by mid 20s Thursday and around 20 on Friday.
Snow opportunities
Northeastern Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin could see some light snow showers Saturday evening. A few passing flurries are possible elsewhere in Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro area.
Lake-enhanced snow totals will continue to rise Saturday evening and overnight in portions of north-central Wisconsin and the upper peninsula of Michigan:

A batch of measurable snow is expected to spread into Minnesota and western Wisconsin from late Sunday night through Monday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 p.m. Monday:
There could be some 1 to 2 inch snow totals by Monday evening. Patchy areas of light snow are then possible Monday night and Tuesday.

When was our last snowy winter?
The new 30-year (1991-2020) average seasonal snowfall total for the Twin Cities is 51.2 inches.
Data from MSP airport shows that our last snow season that was substantially snowier than normal was the 2018-2019 snow season, when we tallied 77.1 inches of snow:
That was a strange snow season, with lower than normal monthly snow totals until we set a new Twin Cities February snowfall record with 39 inches!
