Another wintry storm Friday

We had plenty of Friday sunshine and we’ll also enjoy a bright Saturday. Sunshine is especially nice in November, since this is typically our cloudiest month of the year. 

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 37 degrees on Nov. 26. Metro area highs will reach the lower 50s this Saturday. Highs in the 50s are expected Saturday across roughly the southern third of Minnesota, plus west-central Wisconsin: 

Much of central and northern Minnesota will have highs in the 40s, with some upper 30s to the northwest. 

Saturday will be a bit breezy, with afternoon wind gusts in the 16 to 24 mph range in many areas:

Forecast wind gusts are in knots, with 19 knots equal to 21.9 mph. 

Sunday highs will be in the 30s in most areas:

Sunday wind gusts will be in the 15 to 20 mph range in many locations:

Sunday afternoon wind chill temperatures are forecast to be in the 20s:

We don’t expect a lot of weather drama in Minnesota or western Wisconsin this weekend. Areas near the South Shore of Lake Superior could see a wintry mix develop on Sunday. Here’s a description of that wintry mix potential in north-central Wisconsin on Sunday, from the Duluth NWS office:

Here is the forecast timing of that potential wintry mix:

A batch of snow will move across portions of northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin late Sunday night and on Monday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 3 a.m. Monday to 6 p.m. Monday:

A batch of snow could move across central and southern Minnesota, plus portions of Wisconsin, on Tuesday. We’ll have more info on that in the coming days.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 40s on Monday, followed by mid 30s Tuesday and mid 20s on Wednesday.
