How cold was it?

The Saturday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 14 degrees. That’s much colder than our Twin Cities average Dec. 3 high of 33 degrees.

Most spots in northern Minnesota had single-digit Saturday highs. There were many highs in the teens elsewhere in Minnesota, with a few spotty 20s in southwestern and west-central Minnesota. Milder temps are on tap for Sunday afternoon.

Sunday highs will be in the 20s in northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, with mainly 30s elsewhere:

Some spots in southwestern and west-central Minnesota could touch 40 degrees Sunday afternoon.

Sunday morning wind chill temps will be in the single-digits below zero and above zero, then Sunday afternoon wind chills will be in the teens and 20s, with some single-digits in far northern Minnesota:

Back to forecast highs, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be around 30 degrees on Monday, followed by lower 20s Tuesday and Wednesday, mid 20s Thursday and lower 30s on Friday.

Snow chances?

A low pressure system tracking across southern Canada could spin a few scattered light snow showers into parts of far northern Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from noon Sunday to 11 p.m. Sunday:

Scattered light snow showers are possible anywhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin late Sunday night into Monday morning.

The Twin Cities metro area could see some light snow showers late Sunday night and early Monday morning, with another chance of light snow Tuesday afternoon and evening.
