Weekend weather: Wintry mix into Saturday for some areas; 30s Sunday
A look at Thursday night, Friday morning snow totals
A persistent area of clouds will cover much of Minnesota and Wisconsin Friday night and Saturday. Periods of drizzle, light freezing drizzle and light snow are possible Friday night and Saturday morning, and the wintry mix may linger into Saturday afternoon in northern Minnesota and portions of Wisconsin.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern on Saturday from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Snow accumulations of 1 inch or more are possible from Friday night through Saturday in northeastern Minnesota, with spotty totals of 3-plus inches in the higher elevations near the North Shore of Lake Superior:

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 31 degrees on Dec. 10. Metro area highs will be in the upper 30s Saturday. Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see Saturday highs in the 30s:

I-90 corridor snow totals, storm cleanup
Far southern Minnesota saw the highest snow totals late Thursday through Friday morning. Here’s a look at snow reports through 11:30 a.m. Friday:
Luverne, in southwestern Minnesota, tallied 7.5 inches of snow. There were some 6 inch reports near Albert Lea in south-central Minnesota.
Austin tallied 6.3 inches, but there was a report of 10.3 inches in Dexter, which is about 15 miles to the east-northeast of Austin. Preston, in southeastern Minnesota, reported 9.5 inches of new snow.
Some snow measurements were taken around 6 a.m., and additional snow may be included in the final totals that are posted later today. Allow extra travel time in southern Minnesota and southern Wisconsin Friday afternoon.
