Prompts winter weather advisories as cold air moves in Friday night

Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see periods of drizzle, freezing drizzle and light snow Saturday morning. Some heavier snow is possible near Lake Superior into Saturday afternoon.

A winter weather advisory runs to noon Saturday for most of the northern third of Minnesota, and until 10 a.m. Saturday from southern through central Minnesota, the Twin Cities and west-central Wisconsin. The winter weather advisory runs until 6 p.m. Saturday up along the North Shore of Lake Superior:

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 31 degrees on Dec. 10. Metro area highs will be in the mid to upper 30s Saturday. Most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will see Saturday highs in the 30s:

Saturday afternoon wind chill temps will be mainly in the 20s, with 30s in the southeast:
