Our Sunday weather will feature patchy areas of morning fog. Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have a mostly cloudy day, with some breaks in the cloud cover from time to time.
Sunday highs will be mainly in the 30s and winds will be light through much of the day. Breezes will pick up in far western Minnesota Sunday afternoon.
The winter storm
Computer models show a low pressure system becoming more organized over Colorado Monday evening, then tracking northeastward Monday night into Tuesday and Wednesday. It’ll spread plenty of moist air over the Upper Midwest. Heavy snow will be possible in the colder air over parts of western Minnesota and in central and northern Minnesota. Some spots in those areas could even see some double-digit totals by late Wednesday or early Thursday. Freezing rain could also be a problem in southwestern and west-central Minnesota late Monday night into Tuesday.

Parts of central Minnesota could see significant snow accumulation by Wednesday morning:
Northern Minnesota will see mainly snow with some icing also possible. Here are potential snow totals in the northwest:

The Twin Cities metro area and west-central Wisconsin will be in the milder air to start, so those areas could start with a wintry mix Tuesday afternoon followed by a period of rain, then back to a mix before changing to all snow.
