The storm pushing into the Upper Midwest has triggered winter weather warnings or advisories in 15 states as of Monday afternoon.

The warnings include an ice storm warning for southwestern Minnesota, parts of eastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa.

* WHAT...Significant icing expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of one tenth to four tenths of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota and east central South Dakota.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to noon CST Tuesday.
* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The greatest ice accumulations are expected to be along the Buffalo Ridge in Minnesota.

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch through Wednesday morning. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph.
* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, northwest and west central Minnesota.
* WHEN...From noon Tuesday to noon CST Wednesday.
* IMPACTS...Travel will be very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commutes. Most ice will occur Tuesday afternoon. Heaviest snowfall rates will be during the day Tuesday into Tuesday evening.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... An additional 2 to 4 inches of snow, freezing drizzle, and blowing snow are expected through the rest of Wednesday and Thursday. This could prolong impacts beyond Wednesday morning.

Expect additional occasional snowfall into Saturday. It will be mostly light to moderate, but it may cause slick commutes and add up to a few inches in many spots.
