The Saturday afternoon high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 31 degrees. That’s well above the Twin Cities average Jan. 14 high temp of 23 degrees.
Much of southern Minnesota had Saturday highs in the 30s, with mainly 20s to the north. These above-normal temps will continue for several more days.

Back to forecast high temps, Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 30s on Monday, followed by mid 30s Tuesday then lower 30s Wednesday and Thursday and upper 20s on Friday. Highs in the 20s are expected next weekend.
Many areas could see near-normal temps next Sunday and into the following week. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for near normal temps in Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Jan. 22 through Jan. 28:
Rain, then snow
A low pressure system will spread precipitation across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin from late Sunday night through Monday. It will begin as mainly rain to the southeast and mainly snow to the northwest, with a rain/snow mix in between.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from Sunday evening through Monday evening:
There could also be a period of light freezing rain or freezing drizzle in some locations. Many areas will see periods of snow Monday night into Tuesday morning.
The Twin Cities metro area will probably see periods of rain Monday, then a mix of rain & snow Monday evening ending as all snow late Monday night into early Tuesday. Metro area snow accumulations are expected to be around one inch or less, but parts of central and northeastern Minnesota could see a few inches of snow from Monday into early Tuesday.
