Snow overnight into Saturday for far southern MN, southern WI, Iowa

Our unusually mild January is now pivoting to much colder weather. This will be the coldest weekend that we’ve seen in about a month.

Accumulating snow stays south on Saturday

Snow is expected to spread across Iowa, far southern Minnesota and southern Wisconsin Friday night into Saturday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 p.m. Saturday:

A mix of winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued for Iowa Friday night into Saturday.

Parts of far southern Minnesota will also see some snow. A winter weather advisory starts at 9 pm. Friday and runs to 6 p.m. Saturday in portions of far southwestern Minnesota:
