Mild Sunday temps; passing morning flurry possible

Snow depths are good for outdoor fun

This will be another good day for outdoor winter fun.

Some spots in Minnesota and western Wisconsin could see a passing snow flurry this morning, but most of us will have a dry day.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model isn’t showing any organized precipitation in Minnesota from 9 a.m. Sunday to 10 p.m. Sunday:

A few spots in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area could touch 30 briefly. Our average Twin Cities high temp is 26 degrees this time of year.

Plenty of snow cover

If your Sunday plans include sledding, cross-country skiing or snowboarding, you’re in luck; the weekly snow depth map from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources shows plenty of snow cover across most of Minnesota.

The purple shaded areas from Pine County through northeastern Minnesota have snow depths of 18 inches or more. The light-purple shaded areas in northeastern Minnesota have 24 to 30 inches of snow cover.
