Weekend weather: Warmer temps; Sunday snow chance in northern Minnesota

Brightest day Saturday; high 20s and 30s across the state

Our average Twin Cities high temperature is 30 degrees on Feb. 18, which is Saturday. That average Twin Cities high temperature has been in the 20s since Dec. 13, so this is a milestone on our journey toward spring.

Weekend temperatures

Saturday morning lows will be in the teens in much of Minnesota, with lower 20s in the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota:

The average Feb. 18 Twin Cities low temp is 14 degrees, so we’ll have a relatively mild start to the weekend.

Saturday highs will be in the 30s across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:

Highs in the 20s are in the Saturday forecast for northwestern Minnesota and far northern Minnesota.

Sunday morning low temperatures are expected to be a mix of teens and lower 20s:

Sunday afternoon highs are forecast to reach the 30s in most areas, with 20s in northwestern Minnesota:

Snow chances highest to the north

Some spots in the northern third of Minnesota could see a passing flurry on Saturday. Periods of light snow are possible in northern Minnesota on Sunday.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 6 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday:
