Rain/snow chances return Tuesday PM
The Saturday afternoon high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 27 degrees. That’s not even close to the average Twin Cities March 18 high temp of 43 degrees.
Far western Minnesota had Saturday afternoon highs in the teens, with mainly 20s elsewhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
It felt more like January than March.
Cold Saturday night and early Sunday
Low temperatures late Saturday night and early Sunday morning will be in the single digits across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin. There’ll be some below-zero low temps in parts of northwestern and west-central Minnesota.

Very cold air is sitting over a large portion of the U.S. this weekend. There are freeze warnings posted from north Texas to portions of the Carolinas Saturday night into Sunday morning:
Temperature trends
Sunday highs will be in the 30s in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
There’ll be some 20s in far northwestern Minnesota.
Monday highs will range from 20s in far western Minnesota and northern Minnesota to 40s in southeastern Minnesota:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 30s on Monday, followed by lower 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday, then around 40 on Thursday and Friday.
Dry Sunday
Sunday looks dry across most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern Sunday from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.:

Closing in on seventh-snowiest
The official 2022-2023 Twin Cities snow season total (measured at MSP airport) is 81.2 inches.
That puts the current snow season in the eighth-snowiest position in Twin Cities weather records:
Just two-tenths of an inch of additional snow will put this Twin Cities snow season in the seventh-snowiest position.
We may see some rain mixed with snow late Tuesday and also on Wednesday.
