Welcome to the warmest day in six months.
The last time the Twin Cities reached 80 degrees was on Oct. 11, 2022. We’ve already reached 78 degrees in the Twin Cities as I write this Tuesday afternoon, and we still have a shot at 80 across much of southern Minnesota.
Record highs possible Wednesday
Highs into the 80s look very likely Wednesday afternoon. Balmy southwest winds will be an additional weather feature into Wednesday.

Here’s a look at the record highs for the Twin Cities over the next few days. Our best chance to tie or break a record appears to be Wednesday.

Tuesday 83 degrees (1978)
Wednesday 83 degrees (1931)
Thursday 84 degrees (2006)
The unseasonably warm air mass lingers through Thursday into Friday for southern Minnesota, but notice the colder air pooling in the northwest where highs will hover in the 40s.

Colder this weekend
It would be nice if our first big warmup of the season came on a weekend for many of us. But a cold front will glide through Minnesota Saturday with rain along the frontal zone.
The Canadian model loop below tracks the front and rain zone between 7 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday.

Highs Saturday will tumble all the way into the 40s and 50s.

Sunday brings drier but colder weather. Highs will hover in the chilly 30s and 40s across Minnesota Sunday.

Next week starts cool, but there are signs of more 70s possible later next week.
Stay tuned.
