It’s May. And the weather maps finally appear ready to deliver more springlike weather this week.
April 2023 brought wind, snow, and rain. Here are some quick weather stats for April in the Twin Cities.
April’s average temperature was 1.3 degrees cooler than average
Precipitation was 2.39 inches (-.52)
Snowfall was 3.8 inches (Average is 3.8)
April was also a windy month in Minnesota. Twenty-six of 30 days in April featured wind gusts at or above 30 mph.
Milder May
Our weather trends milder this week. We’ll enjoy abundant sunshine through Thursday. Winds will ease after another gusty Tuesday.

Temperatures will rebound this week. Highs Tuesday will be mostly in the 50s with a few 60s in western Minnesota.
By Wednesday, highs in the 60s and a few 70s will slide in from the west. Warmer colors appear on the weather maps this week.
And by Thursday we have a good shot at 70 degrees across much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities area.
A few scattered showers creep into the forecast by Saturday.

It appears our milder weather may stick around this time. The forecast maps and outlooks from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration strongly favor warmer-than-average temperatures next week across Minnesota and the central United States.
