The MPR News weather team gathers with Minnesota Now host Cathy Wurzer on Wednesday during the noon hour.
The segments are scheduled to begin starting around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday.
Mark Seeley, Sven Sundgaard, Ron Trenda, and Bill Endersen will join me as we talk all things weather with Cathy during Minnesota Now Wednesday. We’ll talk about some of the big storms we’ve covered during our careers.

We’ll talk about weather trends in Minnesota. We’ll talk about the history of broadcast meteorology in the Twin Cities over the past several decades, and who knows what other weather musings will come up.
My first living memory is of the infamous May 6, 1965 tornado outbreak. One of the six tornadoes that day came very close to our home in Deephaven, Minn. I can still see the eerie green sky, and the fist-sized hail stones we collected and put into the freezer for further “analysis.”
It’s hard to believe I’ve been chief meteorologist at MPR News for 16 years already. They say time flies when you’re having fun. That must be why it’s moved by so fast. I feel pretty honored to have built a weather brand that we call MPR Weather over the past 16 years.
I’m truly honored to work with what I believe is the best weather team in Minnesota and the best public media weather team in the nation. We’re fortunate to broadcast to the smartest weather audience in the nation.
It will be a great pleasure to talk with the entire team Wednesday during the noon hour.
