Scattered showers again Tuesday; chance at 80 this week
Spotty rain, thunder possible Tuesday night
It’s a June weather pattern across southern Minnesota this week.
Highs in the 70s for most of this week are more typical of June in the southern half of Minnesota. Weak fronts and weather systems are producing periodic scattered showers and some thunderstorms this week. That’s a classic June weather pattern.
As of this post, scattered showers and thunderstorms are moving eastward through southern Minnesota and northern Iowa.
The MPR News weather radar image below, taken around 12:45 p.m., shows the non-severe cells drifting east. Lightning, thunder, local downpours, and small hail are possible across southern Minnesota.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Storm Prediction Center does not indicate any risk for severe storms across Minnesota Tuesday.
NOAA’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh model shows the likely progressions of scattered rain and some thunder approaching central Minnesota and the Twin Cities Tuesday evening. The forecast model loop below runs between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday.
A chance at 80 degrees
Wednesday and Thursday bring more abundant sunshine to Minnesota. The air mass will warm to around 80 degrees in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota Wednesday.
Highs Thursday look warm as well.
The weather looks excellent to get out and enjoy outdoor activities Wednesday and Thursday. We’ve earned it.
