From ethnic studies to healthcare, Minnesota lawmakers of color played pivotal roles in advancing policy

The two celebrated a new law that would make it easier for heritage language teachers for languages like Somali, Hmong, and Karen to get a teaching license. "I don't have the words to describe my emotions," Deqa said. "This is a big deal for students. Kids will have the opportunity to learn their mother tongue."
