Many of us could use some rain.
Most of eastern Minnesota had dry weather Saturday morning and afternoon, but western Minnesota saw many areas of showers and thunderstorms.
Chokio, in western Stevens County, had 5 inches of rain through midday Saturday:
The Saturday rainfall total through 1 p.m. was 5.50 inches at that location.

Saturday evening and overnight
Areas of showers and thunderstorms will continue in western Minnesota Saturday evening and into the overnight hours. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible in eastern Minnesota Saturday evening, then the shower and thunderstorm coverage is expected to expand into more of eastern Minnesota and also into western Wisconsin later Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night.
Heavy downpours are possible in parts of Minnesota due to the slow movement of the thunderstorms.
The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a marginal risk of severe weather (dark green on map) in a portion of far southern Minnesota Saturday evening and overnight:

Sunday rain chances
Far western Minnesota looks dry during the daylight hours of Sunday. Forecast models show some areas of showers & thunderstorms in the remainder of Minnesota (including the Twin Cities metro area) and in western Wisconsin on Sunday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s High-Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from 8 a.m. Sunday to 11 p.m. Sunday:
NOAA’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) model shows the following rain pattern during that same time period:
Pay more attention to the patchy nature of the rain than the exact location of the rain at any point in time.
Some spots will see little or no rain on Sunday, but some locations could see several periods of rain & thunder.
Temperature trends
The Saturday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 85 degrees. That’s 5 degrees warmer than the average June 17 high in the Twin Cities.
Cooler temps are expected on Sunday, with metro area highs in the upper 70s. There will be some lower 80s in western Minnesota, with plenty of 70s elsewhere:
Some spots near Lake Superior will see highs in the upper 60s.
Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the sticky 60s is some locations:
Temperatures rebound on Monday, with highs mainly in the upper 80s to around 90:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 90s on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, then around 90 on Friday and Saturday.
