The Twin Cities high temperature was 81 degrees on Saturday. The metro area will see Sunday highs in the mid 80s. Winds will pick up by Sunday afternoon, with gusts to about 25 mph possible.
Sunday highs will reach the 80s in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin:
A few spots up along the North Shore of Lake Superior could see highs in the 70s.
Rain chances mainly north
Mid-morning radar shows a few scattered sprinkles in parts of the north metro, tracking southeastward. There were also a few scattered sprinkles in Cook County of northeastern Minnesota and in parts of northwestern Wisconsin, tracking southeastward.

A cold front sags southward from Canada today and tonight. It will help ignite some scattered showers and thunderstorms in mainly the northern third of Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening. A stray shower or thunderstorm could develop in central Minnesota and far northwestern Wisconsin too.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from noon Sunday to 11 p.m. Sunday:
Pay more attention to the scattered nature of the rain than the exact location of the rain at any point in time. It could also rain in some spots that look dry in the forecast radar loop.

Severe weather potential
The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk (darker green) of severe weather Sunday afternoon and evening in portions of northern Minnesota:
Marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible.
The severe weather potential shifts southward on Monday. I’ll have more on that in the next Updraft, which will post around 10:40 a.m. today.
