Severe thunderstorms blew up rapidly along the cold front pushing through the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota Monday evening. The storms produced numerous hail reports in the far southern and eastern Twin Cities. 

The storms developed as the front bumped into a more moisture-rich air mass with dew points in the 60s across southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. 

Cells like this one that popped near Prior Lake dumped large hail up to ping pong ball in size. 

 Hail was also reported with storms in southern MInnesota. 

Unfortunately for most of the Twin Cities, the storms formed just as the front was passing through. That means most of us missed out on potentially beneficial rainfall. 

Tuesday will be much cooler than the 93-degree high we felt Monday. Highs will run in the 70s across most of Minnesota Tuesday and again Wednesday.
