Another day, another severe weather watch.

NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has issued a severe thunderstorm watch including the Twin Cities area, southeast Minnesota including Rochester, and much of western Wisconsin. The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.

405 PM CDT Fri Jul 28 2023 The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of Southeast Minnesota West central Wisconsin

* Effective this Friday afternoon and evening from 405 PM until 1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include... Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY...Thunderstorm development is expected late this afternoon from Minnesota into Wisconsin, where the storm environment favors supercells capable of producing large hail/damaging winds. There will be some potential for cluster development later this evening. The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 70 statute miles north and south of a line from 25 miles north of Mankato MN to 60 miles east southeast of Eau Claire WI.
