Weekend weather: Heat relief; Sunday afternoon rain chance in northern Minnesota

Comfortable dew points

Sticky dew points linger across central and southern Minnesota at midday Friday, but a cool front will spread drier air southward later this afternoon and this evening.

The cool front and an upper-level disturbance will give parts of Minnesota and western Wisconsin scattered showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evening.

Comfortable weekend

The average Twin Cities high temperature is 79 degrees on Aug. 26. Metro area highs will be in the upper 70s this Saturday.

Most of Minnesota will have Saturday highs in the 70s, with 60s in parts of northeastern Minnesota and far northwestern Wisconsin:

Saturday afternoon dew points will be reasonable for late summer; in the upper 50s to around 60:

Drier dew points, in the lower 50s, are expected in the northern third of Minnesota.

Sunday high temperatures will be mainly in the 70s, with lower 80s in southwestern Minnesota:

Sunday rain chance north

Some scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm are possible in roughly the northern third of Minnesota Sunday afternoon.

The chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms will spread to more of Minnesota, plus western Wisconsin, Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night.
