In Minnesota, you usually don’t have to travel far to find purple and gold. But wildflower chasers Kelly Povo and Phyllis Root found those colors deep in the dew speckled Lost Valley Prairie Scientific and Natural Area, just north of Hastings, Minn.

Povo and Root found hundreds of different flowers in this week’s audio postcard but of those bundles the purple Blazing Star and yellow Goldenrod stood out in the early morning sunlight.

They passed through tall prairies and over bluffs to capture photos and record their findings in the postcard above.
