I’ll get to the Labor Day weekend forecast after a quick look at our Thursday weather.
Portions of western Minnesota have scattered showers at midday Thursday. Northwestern Minnesota also has a few embedded thunderstorms.
The chance of showers and a few embedded thunderstorms will continue Thursday afternoon in western Minnesota, possibly spreading into parts of north-central Minnesota.

Labor Day weekend heat
Our weekend high temperatures could break a few records.
Here are existing record high temperatures for Sept. 2 through Sept. 4 in the Twin Cities:
The Sept. 3 (Sunday) record Twin Cities high seems most likely to be broken, but the Sept. 4 record high could also be broken or tied.
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 78 degrees on Sept. 2. Metro area highs could reach the low to mid-90s this Saturday.
High temps in the 90s are expected this Saturday across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with 80s in north-central and northeastern Minnesota:
Sunday highs will be the upper 90s across most of central and southern Minnesota plus west-central Wisconsin, with lower 90s to the north:
Some spots in southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities metro area could touch 100 degrees Sunday afternoon. There will be some 80s in the portions of Cook County that are closest to Lake Superior.
Labor Day high temps will be in the 90s across much of Minnesota, with 80s in the far north:
Some locations in southwestern Minnesota could top 100 degrees.
Holiday weekend dew points are expected to be mainly in the 60s, but dew points could top 70 in a few spots.

The holiday weekend is expected to be rain-free in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, due to warm air aloft.
