Weekend weather: Saturday shower chance, cooler Sunday

Dry Sunday in most areas

With 85 percent of Minnesota in drought, we could really use some rain.

An upper-level disturbance is expected to spread patches of rain across Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin Saturday and Saturday evening. There could also be a few scattered thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from 5 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Saturday:

NOAA’s Finite-Volume Cubed-Sphere (FV3) forecast model shows the following rain pattern for that same time period:

The Twin Cities metro area could see scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm anytime from Saturday afternoon into Saturday evening.

Sunday looks dry in most areas, but an isolated shower will be possible from eastern Minnesota into Wisconsin.
