It was great to see a downpour in St. Paul for a few minutes Saturday afternoon. The sound of rain has been a rare event lately.
Many spots in Minnesota and western Wisconsin saw some rain at times on Saturday.
On and off showers are possible into Saturday evening in roughly the southeastern half of Minnesota and in portions of northeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Some spots could even see and hear a thunderstorm.
Areas of fog could develop in parts of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin late Saturday night, then linger into early Sunday morning. Sunday looks mainly dry, but an isolated shower could pop up in eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and early Sunday evening.

Monday rain chances to the north and east
Scattered showers are possible in northern Minnesota and western Wisconsin Monday and Monday evening.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from 5 a.m. Monday to 11 p.m. Monday:
Temperature trends
The Saturday afternoon high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 78 degrees. The average Sept. 9 Twin Cities high is 76 degrees.
Cooler temps are on tap for the next few days.
Sunday highs will be in the lower 70s in many areas, with 60s from far northern Minnesota into western Wisconsin:
‘Monday high temps reach the lower 70s in much of southern Minnesota and in parts of central Minnesota, with 60s elsewhere:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be in the upper 60s on Tuesday, then around 70 degrees Wednesday followed by upper 70s Thursday and Friday.
Phoenix sets a heat record
Saturday was the 54th day this year with a high temperature of 110 degrees or warmer in Phoenix, Arizona. That’s a new heat record for them:
Phoenix reached at least 115 degrees Saturday afternoon.
In July, Phoenix had three days with high temps of 119 degrees and three days with high temps of 118 degrees.
