Our unseasonably warm October went out with a bang.
The season’s first snow event punctuated an October that was balmy for most of the month. Temperatures in October were running 2.9 degrees warmer than average through Oct. 30.
Our frigid Halloween will temper that number slightly, but overall October was the sixth straight warmer-than-average month in the Twin Cities and most of Minnesota.
Note on the graph below how temperatures started at record warmth but faded late in the month.

Temperatures moderate this week
The first days of November will feel colder than average overall. The average high and low for the Twin Cities on Nov. 1 are 50 and 34 degrees.
Temperatures will fall in the 20s across most of Minnesota early Wednesday morning. Wednesday brings a mix of sun and clouds, with highs in the 30s in most areas.
Temperatures will gradually moderate as we move deeper into the first week of November. Highs on Thursday will return to the 40s in southern Minnesota with plenty of sunshine.
By Friday highs will be near 50 degrees in southern Minnesota, with widespread 40s and some 30s in the north.
