The weather maps look like weather bumper cars. Dramatically different air masses have been colliding across Minnesota. We bottomed out at 4 above zero Wednesday morning in the Twin Cities. Now get ready to push the 70-degree mark on thermometers by Sunday afternoon.
First we “enjoy” one more cold night across Minnesota. Subzero temperatures will cover northern Minnesota on Thursday morning. The Twin Cities and southern Minnesota will fall into the teens.

But gusty southwest winds will blow in another shot of milder Pacific air as soon as Thursday afternoon. Highs in the 50s will edge as far east as the Twin Cities.

By Friday, temperatures warm further with 60s in southwest Minnesota once again.

The weekend will feel more like May than the first weekend of March. The average high for the Twin Cities this weekend is 35 degrees. But temperatures will soar into the 60s in southern Minnesota as early as Saturday afternoon.

By Sunday, record highs are likely across much of Minnesota.

The record high for the Twin Cities Sunday is 65 degrees set in 1905. We should have no trouble blowing past that number as temperatures approach 70 degrees from the Twin Cities southward Sunday.
Overall the outlooks still favor milder-than-normal weather through most of March.

Stay tuned.
