This week’s U.S. Drought Monitor update for Minnesota is unchanged from last week. We’re still sitting at about 54 percent of Minnesota in drought. The severe drought areas run along the Iowa border south of Rochester and across parts of northwest Minnesota. (See the map above.)

The Twin Cities and most of central and southern Minnesota remain abnormally dry. Southeastern Minnesota picked up some moisture Tuesday into Wednesday, but it was after the Tuesday morning cutoff for this week’s update. So it’s possible southeastern Minnesota could improve in next week’s update.

Milder days ahead

We enjoy plenty of sunshine across Minnesota through Saturday. Highs will gradually climb through the 50s Friday.
