Welcome to mid-September, Minnesota. The calendar says meteorological fall is upon us, but the weather maps are still screaming August.
The normal high and low temperatures for the Twin Cities this week are 75 and 56 degrees, but temperatures will run about 10 degrees warmer than normal this week with highs in the 80s. A few towns in western Minnesota may nudge 90 degrees this week.
And it looks like the warmer-than-normal weather hits will just keep on coming this month.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s outlooks favor warmer-than-normal conditions for at least the next two weeks:

The outlook for weeks three and four also favors warmth:
And the three-month outlook slightly favors warmer-than-normal temperatures across our region. We can still get cold spells and possible snow, but overall temperature outlooks favor warmer-than-normal conditions.
A La Nina winter looks likely for Minnesota which tends to favor colder and snowier winters.
