Prompts winter weather advisories as cold air moves in Friday night

It looks like you can keep the cold beverages on the porch for Thanksgiving next week. Our chilly late November weather pattern looks likely to persist. We may even cool a few degrees next week compared to this weekend. 

Our trademark Minnesota gray November skies continue through this weekend. We might see a few sunny peeks between the clouds at times. Highs will hover around 40 degrees in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota on Friday and Saturday. 

Sunday will be a little milder with highs in the 40s south.

The upper air pattern across North America favors colder air mass over Minnesota Thanksgiving week. 

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Global Forecast System model shows the trend next week. The loop below runs between Sunday and Saturday of Thanksgiving week. 

That means high temperatures will be mostly in the 20s across most of Minnesota next week with a few low 30s in the southeast. 

Right now, model runs avoid heavy snow next week that could cause major travel headaches, but a few blips could produce some lighter snow showers next week.
