Author Margie Sarsfield’s ‘got the beet,’ and it’s really creepy

Author Margie Sarsfield based her novel "Beta Vulgaris" on experiences she had a little more than a decade ago when she travelled to Minnesota to work on the sugar beet harvest. She said she knew almost nothing about beets and their importance as a crop before she arrived. She also did not think she would end up writing a horror novel besed on her experiences.
