The Republican-controlled U.S. House has passed a multi-trillion-dollar budget bill.
Named the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” and backed by President Donald Trump, it includes tax cuts, more money to border security and about $1 trillion less to Medicaid and SNAP food assistance.
Every House Democrat voted against the bill, including U.S. Representative Kelly Morrison, who represents Minnesota's 3rd Congressional District including the west metro.
Morrison spoke with MPR News host Emily Reese about it.

MPR News also reached out to Minnesota’s Republican members of the House. Reps. Pete Stauber and Michelle Fischbach declined our invitation for an interview. Rep. Brad Finstad was not available today, and we are awaiting a response from Rep. Tom Emmer.
